What Do You Get When You Have A Room Full of Top Executives From Different Companies?
The power of #collective #wisdom.
As the Chair for one of the EGN Singapore (Executives’ Global Network) Executive Leadership Groups, it’s my honour and pleasure to lead the discussion with this amazing group of Executives.
This week, we talked about APAC Regional Strategy. And we had a full house – 22 members, at the beautiful Marina Bay Sands Convention Hall.
APAC Regional Strategy demands more than geographic expansion; it requires contextual intelligence, adaptive leadership, and disciplined execution. This session equipped senior leaders to navigate APAC’s economic diversity, regulatory complexity, cultural nuance, and uneven digital maturity.
Thank you to our guest speaker Boon Hien Tan for kicking us off and sharing your experience and insights with us.
Then, through the collective wisdom of this group of Executive Leaders, we came up with several real examples and strategies to navigate the complexities of an APAC Regional Strategy.
Some of the highlights were:
⭕️ Key Considerations – Geopolitical risk/political risk, cultural differences, willingness to pay, culture fit, competitors, and local credibility (why you?).
⭕️ Vision is Most Important – Vision review, understand what you are selling, the landscape, partnerships, differentiation, risk management, AI, and sustainability/ESG.
⭕️ Alignment – Alignment between the what, who, where, when, how and why; and decide local partner vs local presence.
⭕️ Road to Success in APAC – Mindset, trust the local organization, global vs “China speed”, local hubs leveraged regionally, relationship is key (especially with governments), and IP protection.
All these ideas came from the collective wisdom of this group of amazing Leaders, when we put our heads and hearts together to come up with new ways of thinking.
It was an incredible session indeed.
And what about you? Which of these strategies resonate with you the most to navigate the complexities of an APAC Regional Strategy? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
